Character Counts:  “It Starts with ME”

Mission / Focus
The mission of “It Starts with ME” is to help young men develop integrity, responsibility and leadership by introducing, or re-introducing, them to proven character traits and allowing them to nurture polish and fine tune these traits in a collaborative peer atmosphere.
The Goal
By the end of these session, “It Starts with ME” participants are more aware of their value and potential in life.  Through instruction, role-play targeted toward building their character, and a variety of interactive experiences, they are better prepared to make the right life choices as they approach high school and in the years following.
Structure
The 2016-2017 school year will be divided by level 1 and level 2 participants.  Level 1 (7th graders), the introductory phase, is designed to familiarize the gentlemen with core character traits and 5 pillars of strong character.  Level 2 (8th graders), the integral phase, is designed to apply the learned character traits into real-life experiences.
Example Day
8:00-8:30  Check in / breakfast provided

8:30-9:30  Team builder workout led by a certified personal trainer

9:30-10:00  Shower / snacks provided

10:00-11:30  Character Counts:  “It Starts with ME” various videos, quotes, discussions, reflections, skits, handouts and guest speakers focusing on the character trait for the day

11:30-12:00 Lunch

12:00-12:30  Recap, Q&A, Participation Prizes

12:30  Pickup

Field Day is a great way for Develop University to build support with the community through positive and challenging physical activities. Using a variety of fun and engaging team building activities, Develop University will be making connections with our youth and community to build the bridge of community-wide synergy.

Midway to Marsh Mentoring (M³)

Mission / Focus

The mission of “Midway to Marsh Mentoring, (M³)” is to directly impact, enrich and support the young men and women, ages 7-17, within the area of Midway Road and Marsh Lane in far North Dallas.

The Goal
By volunteering our time, being a valuable resource and consistent positive influence through mentorship, we will strive to ensure that M³ participants are more aware of self, accountable for their actions and behaviors and walking in confidence in our communities and surrounding areas.
